The Summit Venue:
The City Tavern
in Georgetown — Washington , D.C.

Each space within The historic City Tavern, the third oldest building in our nation’s capital, carries its own history—rooms where ideas were shaped, leaders gathered, and culture evolved.

Ascension unfolds across these layers, inviting connection, conversation, and expansion at every level.

  • Keynotes & Panels

The Main Ballroom level—home to the Great Hall and historic Receiving Rooms—served as the heart of the private social club, The City Tavern Club from 1960-2024. Beneath 16’ ceilings and the glow of crystal chandeliers, this space has hosted generations of influential gatherings, including President Lyndon Johnson’s rehearsal dinner for his daughter Lynda and the future senator and governor, Chuck Robb.

Adorned with hand-painted Gracie wallpaper selected by Jacqueline Kennedy, it carries a sense of timeless elegance and significance—an environment designed for collective dialogue, shared insight, and meaningful exchange.

  • Historic Tavern Bar for VIP Receptions

Restored in 1960 and designed after The Rising Sun Tavern (built in 1750 in Fredericksburg, VA, and the fabled origin of “bar” because the alcohol was kept behind bars), the Pub Room captures the spirit of early American taverns.  With its original 1796 brick floor and fireplace, this intimate space reflects a time when conversation, community, and collaboration unfolded organically over a shared drink and vision for the future.

This is a space for informal connection—where ideas flow freely and relationships begin.

  • An expansive space for vision and possibility and site of our Longevity Lounge.

Light-filled and open, the Bliss Ballroom extends onto a private brick patio—blending indoor elegance with outdoor ease. This space has welcomed both historic and modern gatherings, including President Ronald Reagan’s inaugural luncheon in 1981, and continues to serve as a setting for forward-looking ideas.

Adjacent to the Bliss Ballroom is our historic Long Room—the largest room in Washington, D.C. until the White House was completed—and host to many historic occasions, including a famous reception for President John Adams in June 1800.

It is here that vision expands—where inspiration meets momentum, and new possibilities take shape at Ascension’s Longevity Lounge.

  • The Upper Level offers a more private, elevated experience—designed for smaller gatherings and intentional exchange. Featuring original architectural details, including 1796 pine plank flooring and original fireplaces, it’s a space for leadership dialogue, intimate connection, and deeper exploration.

Throughout the summit and WHCD weekend, this level will serves as a dedicated space for private meetings, media, interviews, and select recordings—home to The Ascension Podcast Studio, capturing curated dialogue to be shared beyond the summit.

  • "Ascension 2025, really demonstrated what is possible when mission-aligned women gather together to talk about topics that are meaningful for our health, and the health of those we love. Topics tht were once taboo (ahem, menopause and brain health) are now out in the open, so we can be empowered and work together to live longer, richer, and more fulfilling lives."
